Thameslink is part of the train company L1/TSGN Rail, which runs all of the services across the Thameslink line. Also part of L1/TSGN Rail is /greatnorthern, which covers the services from Cambridge, Peterborough and Welwyn Garden City, and together provide services across London. We started operation temporarily in March 2014, with the permanent contract from September 2014. However, the new branding was re-launched in January 2016, when the new /gatwickairlink was introduced between Victoria and Gatwick Airport/Brighton, as well as the increase of /londoncrosslink services to Brighton (which is not part of L1/TSGN Rail). This is the largest rail franchise in terms of passengers, staff and fleet in the UK, and with this comes a very big responsibility and expectation to deliver a service. With the introduction of new Class 700 trains onto Thameslink and Great Northern services through Thameslink in 2016, capacity and service are improving heavily.
