Heathrow North Garage Open Day
The largest date in the L1/Group calendar, this event has grown from just a small usual bus garage open day into an extraordinary day out. It is filled with surprises, announcements and, of course, buses. But this event has grown to involve more than buses, and incorporates a whole running day with buses old and new running on current and historical routes.
2019: Saturday 2nd November
This year, the day for the Open Day is Saturday 2nd November, keeping with the tradition that the day is held on the weekend closest to the 1st November.
On the plane side, the observation roof garden is open to the public underneath North and Third runway, getting brilliant views of planes landing and taking off. It usually only open during HN Garage Open Days, and is also available to hire.
On the bus side, it's the bus displays and running day to places within our network, including Windsor, Maidenhead and Heathrow Airport.
Also, you can see how such a mammoth of a garage runs daily, with guided tours across most of the site.
There are more to be announced, including the countywings and /provincialbus launches.
There are stalls run by train, bus and plane enthusiasts and societies.
Donations collected on this day are to be sent to various local charities.
